Like most people who’ve lived half a century, I’ve already gone through several metamorphoses:

  • Touring opera/musical theater performer to wife and mom
  • Pregnant mom to breast cancer patient to cancer survivor
  • Suburban homeschooling mom to worldschooling mom living abroad (and back to the suburbs)

I’ve found the midlife metamorphosis to be challenging. Western society tells us in subtle ways that once we are no longer of child-bearing age, we’ve outlived our usefulness. We fear the loss of our health, our looks, and our relevance.

I noticed for the first time in my life that there were certain things I’d always assumed I’d do “someday” that were no longer an option. With that came some grief for sure, but also an increased energy and a passion to live life with renewed purpose.

For decades, personal development has been my hobby. I joke that I’ve earned an honorary doctorate in the subject based on the number of books, courses, and workshops I’ve done. In the last few years, I’ve worked to obtain some official credentials, becoming a Level 3 Certified Heroic Performance Coach (a 3-year course of study) and completing my Board Certified Coach credentials.

I’ve also taught private singing lessons for more than 25 years. My specialty is working with adults who’ve always erroneously believed they couldn’t sing. Now, I’m combining my passions and showing my fellow “women of a certain age” not just what’s possible with their singing but what’s possible for their lives.

I’m grateful for all of my previous metaphorphoses and the lessons they’ve taught me. I’m thrilled to be in the midst of what feels like the most significant metamorphosis yet, and I’m excited for the opportunity to share the journey with you.
